Mr. Kahane is a Special Advisor to Aetos Capital Real Estate, LP. He has been active in the in the structuring and financial management of commercial real estate investments for over 40 years, including more than 20 years of experience in Asian real estate markets. Mr. Kahane, along with Nicholas S. Schorsch, is the founder of AR Capital, a full-service investment advisory firm, and currently serves as a member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Kahane also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of RCS Capital Corp, a leader in the wholesale broker-dealer, investment banking and capital markets industry. In 2013, RCS Capital Corp raised over $9 billion, advised on $16.4 billion of real estate mergers and acquisitions, and sourced $10 billion of debt capital markets transactions. Under Mr. Kahane’s executive leadership, six companies representing a collective market cap of over $12 billion transitioned from the non-traded space to exchange-traded markets in less than two years. These companies include American Realty Capital Trust, the net lease REIT for which Mr. Kahane served as President and CEO, which merged with Realty Income in January 2013. Mr. Kahane began his career in 1974 as a real estate lawyer, practicing in both the public and private sectors. From 1981 to 1992, Mr. Kahane specialized in real estate in the investment banking department of Morgan Stanley, where he became a Managing Director in 1989. While at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Kahane oversaw the firm’s real estate investment banking activities in Tokyo, where he advised on several high profile transactions, including the sale of the Regent Hotel Chain to Four Seasons in 1992. From 1997 until 2005, Mr. Kahane was on the Board of Directors of Catellus Development Corp, and served as Non-Executive Chairman from 1999 to 2001. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Kahane was the Chairman of the Finance Committee and on the Board of Trustee’s for American Financial Realty Trust. Mr. Kahane received a BA from Occidental College, a JD from the University of California Los Angeles Law School, and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Emanu-El in New York City.
